BBC2Leh - Dawn of a New Beginning

On June 6th 2010, five of us will commence on a new journey - both literally and figuratively. We will plan to embark on a ~8000 kilometer road trip to Leh. While Chanda, Thomas, and I will drive from Bangalore to Leh, Shonan and Shibu will fly down from Dubai and join us in Delhi.

This trip will take us through some of the most scenic places in the world. We’ll be driving through the Deccan plateau and ancient Western Ghats of southern India, the arid plains (close to the Thar desert) of western India, the fertile Gangetic plains of central India, before ascending ~12000 ft to the Leh in the Himalayan mountain range. We will also cover Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable road. Here's our route map.

Fig - The route map

BBC2LEH is going to be the most significant trip undertaken by the Bangalore Bolero Club (BBC). This journey would not have been possible without the help of friends who liberally shared their time and expertize to make this dream a reality. So Shiva, Shalini, and Rajiv - we owe this to you guys!! Shiva, thanks a ton for getting Choudhary Hanumanth Singh (CHS) overhauled - and at such a great price. Rajiv and Shalini..... I don't know where to start - route plans, accommodation, driving tips, check lists, servicing Shibu's Gypsy, ....the list is endless.

Chanda, how can I forget you babes :) We are not done with this yet, but your planning and determination is what has gotten us this far. Thomas, you rock man! Your enthusiasm is amazing - I'll save your story of The Twenty TShirts for later. Beware of those bloody Arabs from Dubai! As for the arabian duo, Shibu and Shonan, this is going to be one hell of a trip - thanks to you. For those of you who almost made it - Miji, Nanda, Shiva - we will miss you guys!

We will be sharing our updates via Twitter, Facebook, and this blog. So keep in touch!
